Physical Manifestations Of Chromesthesia

Artwork created in co-collaboration with chromesthete Louie Burns, turning her experiences into art through a unique visual language

This body of work explores the creation of a collaborative visual language, developed through dialogue with a chromesthete. Beginning with mark-making sessions, the process involved translating her descriptions of how she perceives sound into tangible forms. The initial piece was cut apart and reassembled into a collage shaped like a soundwave, reflecting the jagged rhythm of what she sees. A sewing machine was then used to stitch over the composition, producing sharp, heart-rate monitor–like lines that echo both sound and sensation.

This work represents an experimental attempt to bridge subjective perception and physical form, creating a shared language that sits between drawing, collage, and sound translation.
